Our Spring Workshop Day "Libraries : Gems of the Past, Present and Future" this past Saturday, April 26th, 2008, was a very pleasant experience and an opportunity to learn more about our ministry and a chance to exchange very important information.
We thank our hostess Lynn E. Day and our speakers Beth Andrews, Brenda Robertson and Rick Lewis for sharing their knowledge and talents and we feel sorry for those who could not be with us.
Very decisive resolutions were made during our business meeting that day. Due to the low attendance to our programs in the last couple of years and the reduced number of members willing to serve on the Board the following decisions were made:
We will continue to provide at least one program in the Fall and a day of workshops in the Spring. The Chapter Lending Library is "up for grabs." We will give away whatever holdings we have completely free and will not worry about "carrying it" around for every meeting/program.Our main means of communication in the future will be electronic through this blog and our web site (http://people.smu.edu/marisabel/north_texas_chapter.htm).
The Membership Directory will be maintained electronically and made available for printing upon request. The web site will give information on how to access all of our resources.
New Board members will be sought to carry on our mission as needed. Watch this blog and the web site for updates. I will continue to be the main contact for our organization and the "worker bee" behind our means of communication.
Shalom,
Maria Isabel Lopes Garcia
